Detailed Description

Guatemala and Belize share a border and their roots in the Mayan heritage, but your 9-day tour highlights both the countries’ joyous similarities and remarkable differences. Climb to the top of a Mayan temple to see the jungle above the treetops; dive to seafloor surrounded by undulating coral branches that hide colorful fish. Embrace island life and experience the evolution of Mayan culture set around a secluded freshwater lake. Every moment brings a new adventure, and every adventure immerses you deeper into the impressive landscape, heritage, and history of Guatemala and Belize.

The journey begins with your arrival at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Your private transfer will escort you from the nation’s current capital to the former, Antigua.  Your introduction to Guatemala comes in the form of chocolate as you enjoy a chocolate demonstration and learn how to make an enticing cup from scratch. Next day, your guide will lead you on an informative tour of the beautiful colonial city. Visit a jade museum and venture outside of Antigua to see historical towns nearly forgotten by time. Travel next to the small town of Chichicastenango to experience the bustling marketplace.

Tour the city’s art and white-walled architecture before you continue to the lakeside town of Panajachel at Lake Atitlan. Your guide will take you on a boat tour to visit the secluded villages around the water, including the captivating town of Santiago. In the late afternoon, return to Antigua as the next morning brings you back to La Aurora Airport for your flight to Mundo Maya International Airport in Petén. Spend the day on the stunning grounds of Tikal on a guided tour of the famous Mayan city before departing to Mundo Maya International Airport to Belize City in Belize to meet your connecting flight to San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye.

Your private transfer will escort you to a luxurious resort where you can spend the remainder of the day relaxing on your private balcony. Visit a restaurant specializing in Belizean cuisine for dinner. Dive into the Caribbean on day seven to witness the spectacular underwater world of the Great Belize Barrier Reef. Relish the freedom of leisure and experience the Ambergris Caye and its surroundings, as you desire. Visit nearby islands on a catamaran tour or spend the day exploring the sunken cave at the Great Blue Hole. As your trip concludes, your private transfer will escort you to the airport in San Pedro Town to begin your journey home.
