Dahab – The Tranquil Bedouin Ambience of the Red Sea
Dahab is the antithesis of Sharm el Sheikh. One is calm and traditional as the long promenade is dominated by small cafes that laze above the water. The other is large and commercial as it is populated by large-scale resorts. A clue to the difference is found in the history. Dahab has old Bedouin roots while Sharm el Sheikh was initially a navel port. You will discover this difference upon your airport arrival in Sharm el Sheikh where you will be transferred privately to a boutique luxury hotel that stands serenely above the water in Dahab. From your private terrace you will enjoy uninterrupted views of the Red Sea and its unique blue-green color, which will be a constant over the next four days.
No activities will be planned for the day since the local atmosphere is ideal for settling into the escapist rhythm of a vacation. You can wander along the promenade and stop in one of the cafes or restaurants for a quiet drink. Then, take a walk away from the small town and it will take only ten minutes before you are completely alone. Dahab does not have a typical sandy beach as meant for sunbathing, but the waves lap gently against the rocks and the salty smell of the sea will be a constant.

Detailed Description
Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula can be breathtakingly silent. The only sounds will come from the wind whipping across the dunes or your own breathing beneath the water. Wilderness will envelop you at every turn as rugged mountains, remote reefs, pristine beaches, and rippling dunes surround you. It is as if the world has stood still, a feeling intensified when you travel with the Bedouin to camp where the desert meets the sea. Few places on the planet will feel as escapist while still being able to provide contemporary comfort. The camp and waterfront hotel on this itinerary will effortlessly blend nature with a reassuring level of luxury.
Evocative and enchanting, the Sinai is where the raw beauty of the desert and the water come together and this exclusive safari has been handcrafted to celebrate the best of both. You will dive the legendary sites around Dahab, which will allow you to absorb the inimitability of Red Sea life. Then you will cross the desert by camel on a unique journey to the tiny Bedouin village of Ras Abu Galum. Some of the Red Sea’s most untouched reefs are found here and you will have as much time as you desire to dive them between your camel rides onto the desert peaks for sunrise and sunset.
All the dives will be privately guided and you will enjoy a minimum of ten dives during the safari. Three days of diving in Dahab will allow you to visit a wide range of sites, including the surreal Blue Hole and Napoleon Reef. These dive sites will showcase the Red Sea’s diversity, with a mix of shallow and deep sites, as well as boat and shore entries. The two days of diving around Ras Abu Galum will primarily consist of vast shallow sites rich in color and life whose inaccessibility has been integral to keeping them absolutely pristine. From Ras Abu Galum you can choose to return to Dahab by camel or by road. Both routes will reveal a rugged wilderness that connects you with nature.

My trip to Egypt, planned by Zicasso’s travel company, was remarkable. The best trip I have had thus far. My son and I had all of our needs met. We learned so much about the history and we enjoyed all of the excursions.
My son’s favorite excursions were the camel rides and mine was the Valley of the Kings. We were able to make changes to our itinerary while there to include the Grand Egyptian Museum, which we very much enjoyed as well. I would want the same guides if I were to visit again.

It's hard to know where to start. First off, everything went as smoothly as could be. I traveled with a friend to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and Alexandria. We also took a four-night cruise on a dahabiya.
Our guide in Cairo and our guide in Luxor and Aswan were excellent, and presented us with far more information than it was possible to digest. Our guide in Luxor and Aswan, in particular, gave us a history lesson as we were sailing on the boat, as I sometimes found it hard to contextualize all that we were seeing. That was an enormous help.
We were taken to a couple of shops in Luxor and Aswan, and I'm always a little nervous about bargaining, as I worry I will come out on the losing end and resent being taken advantage of. I didn't buy anything at the alabaster shop, as I felt their prices started very high. I did buy some essential oils and a handcrafted bottle at a shop in Aswan, and though I don't know if I paid too much, I was very happy with what I bought, including a gift for a friend, who was thrilled.
My mobility is limited and I fatigue easily, so I was apprehensive about going on this trip and yet still eager to visit Egypt. The first few days I was very jet lagged, having traveled nearly 40 hours, and I was somewhat dazed and confused and didn't take everything in like I wanted to. But as time went on, I got progressively more into the journey.
The cruise on the dahabiya was so relaxing. We would see some sights, but also have time to gaze out to the river banks dotted with date palms while lounging on a chair. I kept pinching myself to think that I was sailing on the Nile River.
We met three other pairs of travelers, who were very pleasant. We had a barbecue on shore one night, where some hardy travelers could swim in the cold Nile River. There was local music and dancing. Ordinarily, I hate to dance, but they forced us all to join and before you know it, we were having a blast. The next night there was a belly dancer before dinner on board. If you can afford it, a small dahabiya is the way to go—far better, I can only imagine, than a huge cruise ship where you're stumbling over masses of people.
We took a side trip by plane to Abu Simbel. For some reason, our regular guides did not accompany us and a couple of Nubian guides took us around. They were subpar in their guidance, but very pleasant. And just to see Abu Simbel was worth the 3.45am wake-up call. Absolutely breathtaking; I will never get over it.
Before taking this trip, I was apprehensive, as I said, about my ability to get around, but our guide in Cairo, especially, was extremely considerate in making it possible for me to see everything in a way that was as smooth as possible. I am very grateful to him. He was a delightful man—warm, humorous, engaging, and, of course, highly knowledgeable. And our driver was lovely and the most amazing driver I have ever seen.
When I returned home, a friend who had been to Egypt last year asked me what my favorite experiences were. It's So hard to choose, but I would pick the Valley of the Kings for the brilliantly preserved and colorful iconography, Abu Simbel for its sheer overwhelming magnificence, and, of course, sailing on the Nile.

When we originally planned to fulfill a lifelong dream and see Egypt, we went through a number of possibilities. We had never used a company like Zicasso, but in looking at reviews and wanting to make this an unforgettable experience, we elected to give them a try. They connected us with our tour operator and they worked with us to plan a spectacular 14-day journey. Simply put, our experience with both has exceeded our expectations—it was truly an unforgettable experience.
From the seamless service of being picked up at the airport and driven to our hotel, to the personalized service with the tour guides and Egyptologists, to the luxurious Nile cruise, to the splendid final three nights at our resort on the Red Sea, it was an unbelievably wonderful experience.
While it seemed expensive at first glance, in retrospect, it was worth every dollar spent and then some. I cannot be effusive enough in my praise for Zicasso and the tour operator. I highly recommend them to anyone who has dreamed of visiting Egypt and learning about the magnificent early history of this land. Five-plus stars; we would do it again in an instant. A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. We are already on the cusp of planning our next trip—a safari—with this amazing company.

Zicasso’s travel specialist worked very hard in putting our trip together, a trip of a lifetime that was perfect from beginning to end. The coordination and logistics—with tours, flights, hotels, drivers, and experiences—that really should have been impossible to do due to the conflict and peace talks, making everything changing, were handled perfectly.
Our tours were excellent and our hotels were first class, as was communication with guides, drivers, and the travel company any time we visited Egypt, Jordan, and Israel. We were not only shown the wonderful historical sites, peoples, and cultures, but also a Christian pilgrimage following Moses and Jesus. We never could have dreamed of such a wonderful trip and experience. We still have to catch our breath and say, Wow, that was great. People we share our experience with are so very interested and enthusiastic hearing about all the things we did, saw, and experienced, and you see the excitement in their faces and how amazed they are that we could experience so much in one trip.

Zicasso’s travel specialist more than lived up to the many favorable reviews the company has earned. He was receptive and responsive to my requests and used the considerable input I offered to create an itinerary that translated my goals into an itinerary that was flawlessly executed. The drivers and guides assigned all were excellent, and the pampering we received from our arrival to our departure made all of our travel comfortable and seamless.
We were treated to some VIP extras that elevated our experiences and when we encountered a problem onboard the river cruise part of our trip, he and his staff were able to address them on short notice and on a weekend. It is perhaps conventional to tell a customer one is available 24/7, but that truly was the case with the travel company. When circumstances warranted altering the planned itinerary, it was accomplished deftly. This flexibility was much appreciated and truly helped make our trip even more memorable than initially anticipated.
We have friends who expressed their envy at our trip plans and their desire to visit Egypt. My wife and I certainly will share with them our thoughts and views about the wonderful services the travel company provides.

The trip was excellent from start to finish. Zicasso’s travel specialist perfectly understood us—what we wanted to see, how we wanted to travel, and the types of places in which we wanted to stay. The travel company was outstanding. Their goal was that if there were any problem, it was theirs and not ours to handle.
