Detailed Description
Costa Rica charms its visitors from every angle. Volcanos soar like sentinels, beaches glisten in sunset light, and monkeys howl from treetops as macaws flutter their wings. From cloud forest to coast, this is a country of natural pleasures and a superb biodiversity. It is also a country where the experiences are always intimate and authentic, such as ziplining between the trees as mist rolls in, searching for sloths on a wildlife walk, and connecting with heritage in old San Jose. Costa Rica’s greatest highlight is the experiential diversity. The variety of habitats and destinations means that every day can be different, especially when you have two weeks to fully explore the country.
This luxurious two-week Costa Rican itinerary has been handcrafted to include the country’s iconic destinations and experiences, including some off-the-beaten-track places and activities like the recently opened Tenorio Volcano National Park. All of your activities will be private and can be tailored further to your interests. Boutique luxury hotels will help to immerse you in different landscapes, whether perched on the beach or in an area rich with wildlife. With two weeks, you can explore at your own pace and still have plenty of free time. With a full two weeks, there will be no need to rush, and you will experience the true Costa Rican Pura Vida.
After a day of culture in the capital of San Jose, you will spend three days in Manuel Antonio, which is a national park that combines spectacular wildlife with activities on the Pacific coastline. Tarcoles will provide you with more animal encounters before you spend two days in Monteverde, which is a magnificent cloud forest reserve that reflects the country’s adventurous feeling. The next four days will be all about volcanos. Arenal is Costa Rica’s most famous destination, and you will have two customized days in the area. Zicasso’s travel specialists pulled off the impossible! They took all of our, admittedly unreasonable, requests and fashioned a fantastic winter getaway vacation. We did not spend too much time in the car, it was not too hot or too humid, and we got a mix of mountains and beach, all at lovely, tranquil, spacious hotels. Both venues had the right mix of activities and downtime, all at the right price point.

We booked late and were impressed with what Zicasso’s travel company was able to put together on short notice.
We stayed at two totally different hotels, both wonderful. Our hotel near Drake Bay was in an amazing location, with breathtaking views. The staff was fantastic and the home-cooked meals were wonderful. The room was comfortable, but small, all you needed, nothing more. More spacious rooms were available; we just booked too late and wanted to stick to a budget. Getting to Drake Bay certainly required some effort, but it was well worth it. One day, we did not go on an excursion and had the entire beach to ourselves, how amazing.
From Drake Bay, we traveled to Puerto Jiménez, which was also a journey, but again, well worth it. The travel company booked us at our hotel in Puerto Jiménez, a hidden gem. We had great excursions, saw lots of wildlife, and met some wonderful people. Here too, the staff was great. We had an amazing time, when can we go back?
Thank you to the travel company for putting a great trip together.
