Detailed Description
Your vacation to Croatia lands you amidst orange roofs and an effervescent aquamarine sea. You will spend but moments in the heart of Old Dubrovnik before moving onwards to Bosnia and Herzegovina. After years of contentious turmoil, this central country has emerged more multicultural than ever, with a truly unique story to share. Beginning beneath the bridges of Mostar, observe signs of the intersection of central and western culture and beliefs. Moving into Sarajevo, listen as Christian, Islamic and Jewish songs radiate from cathedrals, mosques, and temples, saturating the impossibly diverse landscape around you. Spend a full day exploring this distinct country before returning back to the central borders of Croatia.
In Osijek, Djakavo, Plitvice National Park, and the surroundings, you will be introduced to the relaxed lifestyle of Croatia’s more rural side. Local meats and produce inundate the Baroque-style streets Osijek, one of the top culinary cities in the country. Then, passing through Djakavo, marvel at the local cathedral before ultimately arriving in Croatia’s capital of Zagreb. However, it is in Plitvice Lakes National Park that you will truly find natural serenity. Characterized by waterfalls, forests and delicately flowering fields, here you can quietly follow boardwalks beneath spruce and fir until you emerge out onto the rocky shore of the interconnected cobalt lakes.
Final days in Croatia are spent amidst historic ruins, as you explore the cities of Zagreb, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik. Between the walls of centuries-old palaces and crumbling ruins, you will find signs of a truly glorious past. Intricately adorned archways and mementos from abroad highlight the opulence of the region. However, signs of a not-so-distant troubled past remain all but palpable, as you explore the violent etchings in building facades. Sensational seaside feasts, moonlit strolls, and unique shopping opportunities lure you back from the past to present day, leaving just enough time for one final dip in the Adriatic Sea before your flight home.

We were very pleased with all the arrangements that Zicasso's travel specialist made for us. Everything went smoothly and her recommendations as we planned the trip were right on. We might have cut our time in Ljubljana short if she hadn't suggested we stay two nights, and what a mistake that might have been! She knows the area and was extremely helpful in helping us form our itinerary, and she kept in touch electronically during the week in case we needed anything or had any questions. We were impressed with her service!
All the drivers were prompt, pleasant, and careful drivers. The local guides were good. I must mention we especially appreciated our guide in Pula, a mine of information on the history! And our guide at Lake Bled; she was informative and personable, thinking even to bring snacks and hot tea for a cool morning hike!

Zicasso’s travel specialist created a memorable and nearly stress-free trip for us. I can’t recommend this travel specialist’s services highly enough. She made getting from place to place easy and the local guides she chose were terrific. We saw so many places we would not have known about if it weren’t for the travel specialist and enjoyed them so much more because of our local guides

I told Zicasso’s travel specialist that my husband and I enjoyed food, wine, and culture, and he delivered in spades.
We experienced several different types of wineries and food tours/meals—from market tours to small wine tastings and meals in family-run farms and seaside, seafood gems. We had no idea that Croatia was such a foodie haven!
We especially enjoyed the smaller towns and Krka. Our guides and our drivers were very knowledgeable about the area and history, and we learned a lot. Generally, we liked Dubrovnik better than Split, as Split seemed a little more geared toward younger partiers, but we did have some amazing meals there.
Overall, we had an incredible 30th-anniversary trip to Croatia and would definitely recommend Zicasso’s tour operator.
