Our thoughts have been with the people of Morocco impacted by the earthquake that struck the Atlas Mountains on Friday, September 8. We have been in constant contact with our Morocco travel partners to learn more about the situation on the ground and to offer our support to our partners and our Zicasso travelers.
In Marrakech, damage was sustained in parts of the historical medina, which is set to reopen on September 22. The rest of the city did not experience much damage and is functioning as normal.
The most popular activities for our travelers, including cooking classes, hot air balloon tours, hammam treatments, shopping tours and visits to the Majorelle Gardens and the YSL Museum are all available, and with few exceptions, restaurants and shops are all open.
Beyond Marrakech, popular destinations such as Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Tangier, Chefchaouen, the Sahara desert, and the Agafay desert sustained no damage, are open, operational, and ready to welcome travelers.
Our Morocco travel specialists encourage those with a trip coming up soon to keep their reservations, enjoy the country and support the local economies, which are highly dependent on tourism. The vast majority of our Zicasso travelers with booked trips will need no changes to their planned itineraries, and can enjoy their vacation exactly as originally designed.
Zicasso travelers with a booked trip to Morocco can expect communication from their travel specialist should any adjustments need to be made. Those with trips departing in September and early October have been prioritized, and those with departures later this fall can expect detailed updates as their departure draws near.
If we at Zicasso can be of any assistance, our Zicasso Traveler Care team is available to assist and can be reached via email at travelercare@zicasso.com, or by phone at 1-888-265-9707.
